The United States government adopted the Freedom of Information Act on July 4, 1966 ostensibly to give the people the right to request and receive public documents that government agencies hold. Many different government agencies and states have adopted different standards for releasing public information documents to the public. This section is for curating, organizing and publishing US government public information records. It is hoped that allowing individuals access to public information will allow them to exert more control over their government.
Help us by sharing and examining public information documents through crowdsourcing your time and talents. We are also planning on creating tutorials and templates for submitting your own public information requests for documents.
